====== Faculty Websites (Userdir) ======

===== Overview =====
Faculty can on request be provisioned with a userdir based faculty website. These are hosted on skeeter.socs.uoguelph.ca which socs.uoguelph.ca is an alias to. Websites are accessible at socs.uoguelph.ca/~<username>.

===== Configuration Information =====
  * Userdir is an apache module that will provide a website at the address <host_url>/~<username>, ie socs.uoguelph.ca/~kjohns23. 
  * Data is stored on skeeter under /srv/www/personal/<username>. These must be owned by the faculty member of the website.
  * There are some other one-off websites here, fpga (laraval) for Gary, daprlab for David Flatla and drozita for Rozita.

====== Alternatives ======
Userdir websites are more difficult to manage and require the creator to ensure the website is AODA compliant and in line with any other university policies. CCS offers a Wordpress managed solution, [[https://wiki.socs.uoguelph.ca/sysadmin/services/linux_termianl_server|CampusPress]]
