Proxmox is the virtualization software platform that serves as the foundation for all SoCS server infrastructure.
There are currently four server nodes. These are:
The graphic interface can be reached at any of the above servers, by specifying https and :8006 as the port number. These are only accessible from the SoCS server room network (131.104.48.0/23) or SoCS IT admin IP addresses that have been added to the firewall rules.
Graphic access is via personal user accounts. These need to be explicitly added to the Proxomox Users section and admin privileges granted if required.
The nodes are also accessible via ssh at the above hostnames, again from the SoCS server room network.
VM disks should be stored on the node zfs pools to allow all zfs features (snapshotting/send-receive/etc). Gringotts is also mounted to allow backups.
VMs are backed up to Gringotts on a weekly schedule, occurring at 2am on Sunday mornings.
Sanoid is installed and configured to snapshot the VMs on an hourly/daily/monthly cycle. The configuration is in /etc/sanoid/sanoid.conf. Exceptions are added to disable snapshots for the Kuberenetes nodes as well as the Windows servers as they consume too much disk space.
