These assume you still like computing and want to catch up to not delay graduation. If you are not in Co-op and you're ok delaying graduation you can make up missed courses at Guelph next year.
If you dropped or failed a core CIS course in fall 2024 please read: -
If you dropped or failed CIS*1300 take some time to consider whether you still like Computing and how you can approach studying differently. If you would like to continue with Computing you will need to re-take CIS*1300 at Guelph next Fall, which likely delay graduation. For study help consider Bounce Back
If you dropped or failed CIS*1910 there are options for students to make up CIS*1910 before next Fall. Currently, we know of an option at TMU through a Letter of Permission (https://www.uoguelph.ca/registrar/undergraduate/letterofpermission) over the Winter semester. If you don't make it up before next fall you will not be able to take semester 3 CIS courses, delaying graduation. There are no plans to offer CIS*1910 at Guelph in the winter or summer. CIS*2910 can be completed in any winter semester before graduation, it is not a pre-requisite for future CIS courses.
If you dropped or failed CIS*2030 and or CIS*2430 and or CIS*2520, take some time to consider whether you still like computing. It's ok if you do, it's ok if you don't, but do take some time to consider what is not going well and how you can plan to do things differently. If you still like computing you can recover.
If you did not succeed in one of these three, CIS prerequisites are not optional in the winter but you can (and should) make up the missed course on a letter of permission at another university.
If you did not succeed in two or more of CIS*2030, CIS*2430, CIS*2520 consider what you would like to do and whether you still want to study computing. Also consider the Bachelor of Computing General degree which does not require CIS*2030. It may not be possible to catch up on all of these on letters of permission. You very likely need to make these up next fall at Guelph. The Library has Study Help
A letter of permission [LOP] approves a course at another university for transfer credit to Guelph. You will need to work on your own to become a visiting student at that university, register for courses at that university, and pay tuition to that university. The LOP does not register you in the course. University courses are not identical, they vary. The LOP course will not be an exact match for the Guelph course. It will be close, and the failed course + LOP course + some self study should help you to catch up and continue with your courses at Guelph. Grades do not transfer, they will be on your transcript with the other university. If you pass the course the credit will transfer but the grade will stay at the other University.
