Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient with the Raspberry Pi computer and Raspian operating system.
- Proficient in C coding using Linux as the operating system.
- Proficient with command line operation of a Linux operating system.
- Familiarity with git.
- Be available to support the scheduled lab sections for CIS*1500.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the subject area.
- Must have excellent written skills and be able to effectively critique (in writing) student programming assignments.
- The ability to communicate computer science concepts to students effectively, both in written form and verbally.
- Must be available to support scheduled office hours throughout the entire semester, weekly meetings, and be available to moderate online forums.
- Must be available to invigilate the sit-down written final exam.
- As per the Collective Agreement, must be enrolled as an undergraduate student in the SEMESTER semester.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Familiarity with support queue/ticketing systems.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and online forums.
- Previous experience supporting this or similar course.
- Have taken advanced computer programming courses including system design and data structures.
Anticipated Duties
- Lead laboratory sessions and help students during sessions.
- Write solutions for labs well in advance of lab sessions.
- Grade labs and record grades during lab sessions.
- Monitor course forums and respond to student questions using the forums.
- Monitor the support queue and complete any tasks assigned via that queue.
- Hold regular office hours.
- Assist with exam invigilation (including quizzes).
- Participate in weekly team meetings.
- Able to attend scheduled class times when necessary.
