MCTI Onboarding and Offboarding
Onboarding Process for Students
- Have students fill out the MCTI Student Intake Qualtrics form to gather some personal and device information.
- As part of the form, have students run the powershell script (or bash script for Linux) to collect information about their personal computer. If they wish to use an MCTI loaner, run the script on this laptop.
- Students with no personal computer compatible with program requirements shall be given an MCTI loaner laptop (provided there is inventory). The laptop will be imaged with base Windows along with Sentinel One and Forescout NAC. Students will use a generic local administrator account called “MCTI Student”. There will be a separate local administrator account for IT Admins.
- Students will not be granted access to the university VPN by default, with individual cases being evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Ensure that students have card access to the MCTI Research Park building.
Onboarding Process for Staff Members
- Staff members will be provided a domain joined laptop with a local administrator account created for them if their role is technical. Otherwise, they will be standard users.
- For staff in technical roles, the IT staff will submit a request for VPN access by default. For other roles it will be weighed on a case-by-case basis.
- Staff members should have card access to general areas and areas important to their role.
Offboarding Process for Students and Staff Members
- If the staff or student was assigned VPN access, submit a request to remove VPN access.
- If the staff or student member was assigned an MCTI laptop or any other pieces of hardware, they must be returned and refurbished. This applies to any applicable software licenses as well.
- Remove card access to the building.
- Reset the passwords for any generic adm accounts or delete user specific adm accounts.
