Maclab Installation Process
Below details the installation process for OSX 10.15 Catalina as of W24.
Base Install
- Install OSX from the base installer. Currently Catalina as this is the most recent version all machines can run. This is available on the sysadmin share on gringotts (sysadmin/software/MacOS/Catalina.dmg)
- Install Munki from the MunkiBuilds Website
- Copy the ManagedInstalls.plist to /Library/Preferences
System Software Components
- NoMAD Login - This is used to allow CFS/UoG Usernames and passwords to be used to log in to the system
- NoMAD - This gets a kerberos ticket for a CFS username without requiring the system to be bound in AD. Tickets are required for home folder mount.
- Outset - Run scripts on login/boot.
- DockUtil - Used to programatically configure the dock
Application Installation
- Once the base system is set up, reboot and Munki will automatically install the software required on each system.
