If you dropped or failed CIS*1300 and or CIS*1910, take some time to consider whether you still like computing. If you do, you should re-take the missed course(s) in the winter semester. Email cscouns@uoguelph.ca with a clear request to be added (and what to drop in exchange if you are already registered in courses). CIS prerequisites are not optional.

If you dropped or failed CIS*2030 and or CIS*2430 and or CIS*2520, take some time to consider whether you still like computing.

If you did not succeed in one of these, CIS prerequisites are not optional in the winter but you can (and should) make up the missed course on a letter of permission at another university.

• To make up CIS*2030 you could take Waterloo's CS241 or ECE222, UofT's CSC258H, TMU's BME538 or COE538. There may be others - if you find one you can take email cscouns@uoguelph.ca with the full course outline (that includes textbook, grading, labs, learning outcomes, etc.) Or make it up next fall at Guelph and then take CIS*3110. This limits your CIS elective options but you can still graduate on time. Co-op students should make it up before returning for winter 2025.
• To make up CIS*2430 you could take TMU's CCPS209, Laurier's CP213, Athabasca's COMP308. There may be others - if you find one you can take email cscouns@uoguelph.ca with the full course outline (that includes textbook, grading, labs, learning outcomes, etc.) You need to make this up before your next fall semester (or before winter 2025 if Co-op) so you can take CIS*2750 and CIS*3750 to get caught up. CS majors who are not in Co-op could also make up CIS*2430 at Guelph next fall, then take CIS*2750 with CIS*3750 following that.
• To make up CIS*2520 you could take TMU's COE428, Waterloo's ECE250 or CS240, UofT's CSC263H. There may be others - if you find one you can take email cscouns@uoguelph.ca with the full course outline (that includes textbook, grading, labs, learning outcomes, etc.) You need to make this up before your next fall semester (or before winter 2025 if Co-op) so you can take CIS*2750 and CIS*3750 to get caught up. CS majors who are not in Co-op could also make up CIS*2520 at Guelph next fall, then take CIS*2750 with CIS*3750 following that.

If you did not succeed in two or more of CIS*2030, CIS*2430, CIS*2520 take significant time over the break to consider what you would like to do and whether you still want to study computing. Consider the Bachelor of Computing General degree. It may not be possible to catch up on this on letters of permission. You very likely need to make these up next fall at Guelph.

A letter of permission [LOP] approves a course at another university for transfer credit to Guelph. You will need to work on your own to become a visiting student at that university, register for courses at that university, and pay tuition to that university. The LOP does not register you in the course.
