Development of a web based survey tool for the Alternative Data Collection program. This would include data visualization and implementing various gamification elements for future evaluation. F17,W18 Dan Gillis
Web and mobile development of the eNuk application for data collection in the remote Inuit community of Rigolet. This is part of a broader program, with a team of students from Comp Science and Population Medicine involved. F17,W18 Dan Gillis
Data mining of a large dataset that will be made available by a local company. The project would be a collaborative effort between students in comp science, math, and stats (and possibly engineering). Each student would apply various methods to understand patterns in the data. F17,W18 Dan Gillis
The Allure of Aesthetic Distortions in Social Photography. These affects such as vignetting, chromatic aberration, and the modification of the colour space all add to the aesthetic appeal of the photographs. But why? This project will explore the world of filters in social photography applications, and why people use them. F18 Michael Wirth
